RPI Students Host Discussion on Precautionary Principle with Troy Community

On Tuesday, April 30, 4-6pm, RPI students and faculty hosted a discussion with members of the Troy City Council and community about risk governance in the city.  Students reported on ways the precautionary principle has oriented city decision-making in other cities as well as the European Union, then posed questions and examples for consideration by the group.  Council members Rodney Wiltshire and Reverend Nina Nichols participated, as did community activists Abby Lublin and Jim Welch.  The event was the culminating session of a spring semester reading group led by Professors Philippe Baveye (Environmental Engineering) and Kim Fortun (Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences).
